At just 40mm (and 15.5mm thick), the PAM 1048 is still pure Panerai. When Panerai watches became available for sale to the public in 1993, designer Alessandro Bettarini (Panerai’s chief of mechanical engineering at the time) created the modern Panerai Luminor. He brought back the crown-protector bridge and the Luminor name from the archives, but with a smaller 44mm case.

One of the rarest and most unusual Panerais we've seen in a while is this bronze-cased prototype, made in the mid-1980s, for the Italian Navy.
