Around 2002, Rolex introduced a tiny laser-etcher crown logo on the sapphire crystal at the 6 o’clock position. To the naked eye it is almost invisible, but it is there on every Daytona made after that year. I have found that the best way to see it is to hold a flashlight at the 12:00 position, level with the watch. Then use a loupe or magnifying glass (or the magnifier thingy on an iPhone) to look at the area where the laser etched crown should be.
i happened to purchase a loupe to have a close look at my watch. i think most parts of the watch look genuine to me, but the laser etched crown looks a bit awkward. there seem to have two ovals while the genuine should have one. it doesn't look like an S either.
